Local Data Storage

LootBagReview follows the principle of data minimization. All data entered by you or collected by the app (e.g., product reviews, favorites, or notes) is stored exclusively locally on your end device.

  • There is no transmission of this personal data to our servers.
  • We do not have access to the app data stored on your device.

Camera Access (EAN Scanner)

In order for the app to capture product barcodes (EAN codes), it requires access to your device's camera.

  • Purpose: The camera is used exclusively for scanning the barcode.
  • Processing: The camera image is only processed temporarily to read the barcode number. No photos or videos are permanently stored or transmitted to us.
  • Legal Basis: Processing is based on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR), which you grant when accessing the camera function for the first time.

Product Data Retrieval (OpenFoodFacts)

To display information about the scanned products, our app uses the API of the external service OpenFoodFacts.

When a barcode is scanned, the EAN number is sent to the following server: https://world.openfoodfacts.net

What is transmitted: To make the request technically possible, your IP address is inevitably transmitted to the OpenFoodFacts servers. According to OpenFoodFacts, this data is used to provide the product information. We have no influence on how OpenFoodFacts processes this data beyond providing the product information.

Your Rights

Since we do not store any personal data on our servers, we cannot provide information about your data or delete it. However, you retain full control at all times:

  • Deletion: You can delete all data at any time by clearing the app's cache or uninstalling the app.
  • Permissions: You can revoke camera access at any time in your device's system settings.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to adapt this privacy policy if we integrate new features into the app. The current version can always be viewed within the app.
